Kartini's wedding

With so many things to do and prepare I couldn’t find the opportunity to update this blog and without realizing 3 months had already past. There was a trip to Hong Kong, a trip to Australia and the biggest one was of course my daughter Kartini’s wedding. Yes all in the last 3 months.

Kartini’s wedding was early this month and preparation was made since mid last year. We engaged the same wedding planner as we did for my son in 2010. Although the fee is on the higher side we still engaged her. After all, she knew our expectation. Alhamdullillah, the event went smoothly with helps from family members and siblings.

It’s not easy to let go Kartini after so long with us. I recalled the evening of her solemnization, I was happy for her and yet sad knowing that she will leave us to lead her own family. It was worst when her in-laws came the next day to fetch her home. Bidding farewell and seeing her walking away was a heart pain. Unknowingly tears flowed down my cheek. I guessed all parents would feel the same.

Anyway, she will be back to celebrate her birthday with us tomorrow. Yeaahhhhhh.
Happy Birthday Kartini. May you be blessed with happiness and good health.

Week end break

It was a long week ends with soooo many plans. 1st plan was to go KL by coach unfortunately tickets were sold out for Friday trip. Next, go to Tanjung Balai but the kids thought it was not a fun place for the week end.

So, a trip for 2 to Hong Kong was planned. Unfortunately, flight on Friday was sold out. Urghhhhhhhh.

Friends suggested a drive up to Cheratiing. But I do not want to be squeezed in a massive traffic jam expected at both CIQ due to the long week ends especially coming back to Singapore on Sunday.

But we need to get away………………..

Finally every one agreed that we should stay somewhere nearby so that we can come back early on Sunday avoiding the expected congestion at the causeway later part of the day.

And the chosen place………Austin Hills Golf Resort with its cavernous standard room with 2 king size beds and enough space to fit another 2.

I was up at 4.30 am for the usual round of golf and by 5.30 I was on the road to Pulai Spring with the usual kakis. The weather was fine when we first tee off at 7.30 but it gets darker afterward. It started drizzling after hole 8. By the time we putted at hole 16, it began to rain heavily so the game had to end there. Nevertheless, it was a good and enjoyable game.

Wifey and my 2 daughters came to fetch me and we drove to Austin Hills to check in at 3 pm. We were joined by other family members (sister and hubby, my son, daughter in law and of course the little one Sofia) in later part of the afternoon.

2nd career

Time flies. I am almost six months into my 2nd career. Although work life has been tough, it’s still manageable and so far so good. Nevertheless, time on the green has been reduced tremendously. Hope it gets better with another partner joining me now.

TRACOM Annual Dinner

Attended TRACOM annual diner last night at Suntec. It was a fun filled night with ‘Back to school;’ theme and people were having great time with some of them coming in school attire. Time well spent meeting and catching up with old friends.

Dinner at Yeo's

We had dinner at Yeo’s Sea Food a while ago. Thanks to Tini – she’s the boss today. hehehe

Sofia

It is rather quiet today at home. There is no “Cicak Cicak di Dinding” cos baby Sofia is away in the Philippines visiting her Lola.

Only 5 months old and yet every corner at home has her ‘foot print’ – pram in the TV room, stool in the dining room, milk bottles in the kitchen, shower basin in the toilet, cradle in the bed room etc, etc. She will be missed by all for the next two weeks.

Super luxury week end

My new work life is not as easy as before and 12 hours spent at work place is a norm. Thought it will not last more than a month ,,,,,,it has been 4 months now and going strong. Week end break is a luxury, usually spent at home and golf is a super luxury. This quarter, 3 tournaments had to be given a miss due to work commitment. Sigh.......

Anyway, last week was a super luxury weekend with golf at Pulai.Spring with the usual kakis.

Christmas in KL

Last weekend we had a short trip to KL. Being a long weekend, traffic congestion at the CIQ and NS highway was expected. Thus we took a coach instead of the usual self drive.

True enough, it took us 9 hours instead of 6 to reach KL. Nevertheless, it was a nice experienced being chauffeured and all of us enjoyed the traveling.

It was Christmas eve that weekend and one can feel the festive mood. People were having good time on the street, malls, cafe etc. For us, it was just food and shopping. It was one of my best KL trip…..in a VIP coach.

clip of of my weekend trip to johor with friends from Japan

This clip was taken sometime in April 2010 during my weekend trip to Desa Rhu Fruit Farm.
The trip was meant for a friend and her hubby who was stationed in Singapore with the Japanese Embassy. Before leaving Singapore for good, we took them out for this trip. I didn't get to give them a copy of this clip. Thus I hope they could watch it here albeit far from clear.

Hari ini penuh kesyaduan

Teringat aku atas pemergian

Flea Market

Helping Yanti to set up her stall at a flea market at Scape last week. She is the only one in the family who is intrested in this line and often set up stall. Understand that she now has an online shop.

I remembered selling kueh when I was young (read very young). Every morning before going to school I would sell curry puff at the Mt Emily swimming pool. Those were the days when 5 cents can get you a piece of curry puff as big as today's Old Chang Kee.

Wait a minute........where's my mum's curry puff. Old Chang Kee was non existence when we first sell our curry puff more then 45 years ago and yet that old man today managed to set up stalls at every corner of the island selling his puff. What has gone wrong.

Mum has the skill to make curry puff and I guess thats all she has. But Old Chang Kee has more than that. He has bussiness acumen, foresight, capital, marketing skill, strategies and most of all GUTS. That make the difference.
